I get involved—it’s what I do! At both the University of Victoria and Royal Bay Secondary School, I have spent every year involved in extracurriculars that helped me realize my passions in writing, communications, and event management. Read more about these groups below.

MyUVicLife: Student Blogger

October 2019 – Present

The MyUVicLife student blog aims to describe what UVic student life looks like. Throughout my three years on the blog team, I have authored 42 posts (and counting!) that combine written material, photography, and videography. Check out my posts here!

Royal Bay Grad Council: Council Member

september 2018 – june 2019

The Royal Bay Grad Council creates events and fundraises to cover graduation costs for students. While in a leadership role on the council, I organized several events, such as a trip to Butchart Gardens and a Grad Sleepover. Moreover, I spearheaded fundraisers, such as selling 50/50 tickets at a Victoria Royals game.

Sooke School District #62 District Student Council: Royal Bay Representative

september 2016 – june 2019

The SD62 District Student Council involves students meeting with the Superintendent and other district officials to discuss issues, programs, and events from a student perspective. I served as a Royal Bay Representative on this council for three years and had the opportunity to represent students by speaking at SD62’s 2018 expansion announcement.

Royal Bay Yearbook Team: Copy Editor; Executive Team

september 2016 – june 2019

As Copy Editor for three years, I contributed to three yearbooks and two year-end videos. I gained technical skills in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Premiere. In addition, I learned storytelling techniques and skills in how to interview others while creating written content for yearbook pages.

Royal Bay Leadership Team: Event Main Organizer

september 2015 – june 2019

The Royal Bay Leadership Team plans events that increase school spirit and raises money for organizations like the Canadian World Education Society (CanWES). While on this team, I was the main organizer for several large events, such as the 10,000 Tonight Food Drive and the Royal Bay Colour Run. I also had the opportunity to gain public speaking and event management skills when I spoke at assemblies of over 1200 students and teachers.
