Think Local First: Communications + Social Media Intern
August 2021 – Present
Think Local First is a non-profit organization that supports Greater Victoria local businesses. Throughout my internship, I have written communications materials for emails, newsletters, and the Buy Local Pledge website. I also create social media captions and graphics using Canva for our Instagram and Facebook channels.
The best part of my job, however, is getting to interview local business owners for our Member Spotlights—I turn these interviews into written profiles and videos that are posted to our social media using WordPress, YouTube, and Apple iMovie.

Support Local BC: Social Media Intern

- Checking-in up to 600 beneficiaries a day using IMMS BC to support nursing staff
- Communicating with up to 1000 people a day (ages 11-90) to ensure they felt comfortable throughout their vaccination experience
Whether it was clarifying vaccine misinformation, booking a last minute appointment, or just being a hand to hold during an anxious experience, I truly enjoyed helping my community. To read more about my experience, check out my guest post on the Canadian Red Cross blog.
